Re-Launch and Re-Fresh…

In 2009 Brim Studio was launched as a combination blog and personal portfolio for computer graphics related content.  Since then I’ve covered Blender and Gimp  projects and tutorials, but I’ve slowly started to branch out into other areas as our interests have shifted (as you’ve probably noticed in the lack of CG posts recently).  As our projects have shifted away from strictly computer graphics related content I’ve often felt strange posting these non-CG activities.  This has led to a drop in the number of posts and an overall general lack of new content recently.

This is why we’ve decided to re-launch the site, with a brand new theme to match our brand new content!

We have all sorts of interests and all sorts of projects going on, on top of all of our CG related things, so we thought you may be interested in them as well.  Expect new content related to woodworking, gadgets, diy, audio, fountain pens, knitting, style, fitness, biking, and much more.  We’re also looking to start posting reviews, on top of our normal tutorials and construction progress.

We’re certainly not moving completely away from computer graphics related content.  We use Blender and Gimp now more as tools for our other projects, so expect more “applied” cg information, rather than just modeling or rigging tutorials.  This is actually fairly exciting for us, seeing how our years of studying Blender are paying off in many different ways!

The new theme is quite a bit different than the previous one, so there are going to be some issues with the older posts maybe not displaying correctly.  We’re working on going through and updating past posts, but it will take a little while (there are over 100 posts to updated!).  All the content is still available!

With all this different content the theme needed to adapt quite a bit.  The new home page gives you quick access to all the different areas of the site, highlighting the newest posts.  You can also sort the posts by different categories by selecting one of the links to the right of the logo.  There will also be some blog posts that don’t really fit into the normal categories (like this one!).  The newest ones will be listed on the small links in the sidebar to the right, and you can get to all of them with the ‘blog’ link in the top links bar.  Also in the sidebar there will be some featured posts at the top, along with the normal links and archives at the bottom.

So with the new design and the new, diverse content, I hope you are excited and interested with everything.  Also, as always, if there is anything that you are interested in learning about, or having us tackle, just let us know.  We dabble in nearly everything!
