introducing…

the all new brim studio website!  I decided, after over a year of updating my blogger page, to move into a more streamlined and professional looking site.  After a lengthy pondering session about the name, I have rebranded my web presence as brim studios, which is a pretty catchy combination of Brown and Tim.  A quick domain name search indicated brimstudio.org was open, so I snatched it up and here we are!

For a little while now I have been wanting some more flexibility with the layout and design of my blog, so when signing up for a web host I made sure to get one that offered easy integration with WordPress.  I have never used WordPress before, but I have read nothing but good things about it.  I have only had a chance to play with it for a couple days now, but I already feel comfortable enough to start to customize the theme.  I want a very simple interface, so this is easier for me than some designs, but it is a fairly simple process.  There are also about a centillion free WordPress themes available for download, so if you are not code savy you aren’t out of luck.

My theme is based on the tube theme used on this site.  It’s very simple, attractive, and easy to navigate.  With some quick work in Gimp and Notepad++, I had a nice page layout.  By the way, the background picture is of ice crystals just starting to form on the top of a lake, which is one of those gorgeous displays of nature that I was lucky enough to catch on camera.

The theme is still very much a work in progress, so there are some links and features that won’t work yet, but they will eventually.  Keep checking back!
