sketches…

quick goblin sketchesA quick update today as I’m just getting back in to the habit of updating more often.  I broke out the Wacom tablet this past weekend for a little while and worked on some of my sketching.  I still haven’t had too much practice with it, so it’s still a little foreign to me.  I’m slowly starting to get the hang of it though.troll in black and white

I also worked a little bit on doing some shading, instead of just sketching.  It’s still very odd thinking in layers as I’m used to doing all shading on a single sheet of paper, but I’m learning slowly.

troll with colorFinally, here is a color version of that same troll.  This one was cleaned up quite a bit and outlined with the “newly discovered” ink tool.  It’s a little tricky to work with and make straight lines, but it gives a really nice polished look to the piece.  BTW, all of these were done in GIMP.

My next project is still a little up in the air for the moment.  The Blending Life challenge just started over at Blenderartists, but to be honest, doing real life images don’t excite me too much.  Other than making some stunning images that mimic real life, an artist is somewhat limited as to what they can do.  I’ve been thinking about taking on the ambitious process of doing an animated short.  There are a few different ideas floating around in my head, so we’ll see what comes out!
