RBS (part 2)…

A quick post today with some more pictures of the rolling ball sculpture progress (also a test of the gallery feature of the shadowbox plugin). I picked up one of those helping hand stands with the alligator clips on them yesterday and it’s a huge help while soldering! I started to add some of the spacers between the tracks around the loop and would not have been able to do it without that little gadget.

The pictures show the contraption roughly setup the way it will hopefully be when finished. I’m getting to the point where I have to figure out how to make a base for this thing. You can also see the new jig that I have made which is great for soldering the straight sections to make sure the tracks are spaced apart accurately. There is also a closeup snapshot of one of the solder joints. My technique is getting better, but they still need some cleaning up to make sure the marble will roll smoothly past them. I’m thinking maybe a dremel tool for that.

Anyway, enjoy the pictures!
