Blake Tutorial Series – Part 4 – More Head Modeling…
In Part 4 of the series I introduce a couple of new modeling tools and then finish up the head.
I start off by talking a little bit about the subsurf modifier, then introduce the proportional editing tool and the smooth function. I then go ahead and use these new tools, along with some of the ones we’ve gone over previously, to finish up modeling the head. I go back and fix the nasty mess we made of the nose and the mouth, and do some general tweaking/shaping. Finally, I switch out background images to the whole body references and start extruding the neck down.

Blender Guru is a blender educational site run by Andrew Price. Andrew does a great job of producing high quality video tutorials, and often releases them in different series. One thing that makes Blender Guru different from other blender sites is that Andrew does a great job of involving the viewers. He’s very active on the site, facebook, twitter, etc, and also does some feedback shows, where he will critique a piece of art submitted by his viewers. This works great for him as judging by the number of comments his posts have (well over a hundred in just a week!). He’s also just released node compositing e-book called “The Wow Factor” which is well worth picking up.
